Just ONE Rapture?

by Peggy McIlveene

Below is my response to a man who believes there is on one Rapture/Resurrection... BTW, I will call the man "Ted", though that is not his real name.  Peggy

Ted's initial response to a GF, stating that there is only one Rapture, period -

I really disagree with that post almost all of it. I see one rapture event. As for the 144,000 that are sealed I don't believe they are rapture I believe they are used to preach the gospel. As for the Lord's return after the 7 years still no 2nd rapture he comes back and lands on earth where he sets up shop for the next 1000 years. One rapture is all I see unless you want to call the taking of the two witness after they are raised from death a rapture then I guess you can say two.

Me, initial response -

I personally know of several.

·       First of all, since I’m pre-Trib, I believe those who have become born again in the Spirit during this present dispensation will go up immediately after the dead in Yahshua are resurrected BEFORE the Trib.  To be worthy of this Rapture, you would have had to accept Yahshua AFTER He was crucified and resurrected, since He was the propitiation for our sins.

·       Those who died in faith but before Yahshua’s sacrifice will be resurrected and invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb… all those who were saved through faith by simply believing Father Yahweh.

·       Then in the middle of the Tribulation, the Two Witnesses are killed in the street, they are resurrected on Day 3, and Raptured.

·       Then those who have accepted Yahshua during the Tribulation and are either living when He returns PHYSICALLY to touch earth or who were martyred for their faith during the Tribulation will be Raptured/Resurrected.

·       And Revelation says, “… the rest of the dead were not raise for a thousand years.”

Hope this helps some.

SECOND RESPONSE:

Ted -

First I see we have a different view of the meaning of Rapture.

Rapture one

Caught Up - harpazō

1) to seize, carry off by force

2) to seize on, claim for one's self eagerly

3) to snatch out or away

1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up (harpazō) together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Me, second response -

No, Ted, we are both pre-Tribbers.

Ted -

This has taken place once when Jesus died and even if you believe it didn't it will take place when Rapture number one happens there is no scripture support for a separate rapture for this.

Me -

And all these, having gained approval through their faith, did not receive what was promised… (Hebrews 11:39)

The OT Saints aren’t part of the BRIDE of Christ, and the wedding supper of the Lamb is for the Bride (Church) and Groom (Yahshua).  The OT saints will be “Raptured” at the Second Coming (physical, where his feet touch down on the Mount of Olives… the Bride returns with Him at that point… whereas the Bride meets Him “in the air”).

"Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear His voice, and will come forth; those who did the good {deeds} to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil {deeds} to a resurrection of judgment. (John 5:28-29)

As a pre-Tribber, you KNOW that at our Rapture (before the Trib), is when the dead in Christ rise, then those who are Christ’s (and alive) at His coming, not the evil.  The “evil” are part of those who are resurrected at the end of the Millennium.

Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold of the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; and he threw him into the abyss, and shut {it} and sealed {it} over him, so that he would not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed; after these things he must be released for a short time. Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I {saw} the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection. (Revelation 20:1-5)

Now, notice here… the angel binds Satan and throws him into the abyss for 1,000 years. Right after that happens, John sees the souls of those who were beheaded (during the Tribulation).  This all happens AFTER the Tribulation… it only talks about the Resurrection/Rapture of the Tribulation Saints.  That’s obviously another Resurrection/Rapture.  The rest of the dead don’t come to life until the end of the 1,000 years… obviously this is yet another Rapture/Resurrection.

Ted -

Ephesians 4: 7But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. 8 This is why it says: When he ascended on high, he led captives in his train  and gave gifts to men. 9 What does "he ascended mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions? 10 He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.

Psalm 68:18  Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.

Me -

How and when exactly do you figure they got “under the altar”?  I showed you in Revelation 20:1-5 above when they were Raptured/Resurrected… right after Satan is bound and thrown in the abyss for 1,000 years.

Ted -

Yo  You will have to provide scripture to back this rapture up I can't find any. It says the lord comes back and sets up shop here on earth for 1000 years nothing of a rapture.

I see 1 main rapture 1 Thessalonians 4:17 and I will concede that the 2 witness's is a rapture of sorts.

Me -

If you are to believe what the Bible tells you about the Two Witnesses, it is most definitely a Resurrection/Rapture, not just “a rapture of sorts”.  He’s very clear on that point.

Ted -

but the others I do not see. Please provide scripture without it then it is nothing but one of many opinions of man and means nothing.

Me -

From what the Scriptures I quoted above tell us, here is the order of the Raptures/Resurrections:

1.    Enoch (walked with God and was not)

And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him. (Genesis 5:24)

By faith Enoch was taken away (raptured) so that he did not see death, and was not found, because God had taken him; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. (Hebrews 11:5)

2.    Elijah

Then it happened, as they (Elijah and Elisha) continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. 2 Kings 2.11

3.    The Church

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of {the} archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)

4.    The Two Witnesses

Those from the peoples and tribes and tongues and nations {will} look at their dead bodies for three and a half days, and will not permit their dead bodies to be laid in a tomb. And those who dwell on the earth {will} rejoice over them and celebrate; and they will send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth. But after the three and a half days, the breath of life from God came into them, and they stood on their feet; and great fear fell upon those who were watching them. And they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, "Come up here." Then they went up into heaven in the cloud, and their enemies watched them. (Revelation 11:9-12)

5.    The OT Saints/The Tribulation Saints

(Revelation 20:1-4)

6.    The rest of the dead

The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection. (Revelation 20:5)
