8 Days to Rapture
by Ben Segrest, 5/29/08
---Darkness begins June 3rd
at 5:00 p.m. EST.
---Rapture at Pentecost but we do
not know the exact date.
Jesus used the word midnight only three
times as recorded in the Bible. The
first in the parable of the ten virgins, the second in relation to watch for
His coming, and the third in the parable about a man seeking bread from his
neighbor and then related that to asking God for the Holy Spirit.
Jesus
said:
“If ye then, being evil, know how to give
good gifts unto your children; how much more shall your heavenly Father give
the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?”
Luke 11:13
My thinking has been that God would immediately
withdraw the Holy Spirit when the sun first goes dark for the three days and
that people would not then be able to receive the Holy Spirit.
I am probably wrong in thinking that because Jesus does say, “I
say unto you, though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend,
yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.”
(Verse 8)
This is saying to me that the Holy Spirit will be available to those
who ask even during the three days of darkness.
So, people who sincerely want to believe in Jesus
will have the opportunity to be saved during this period of darkness.
Darkness came upon the whole earth for three hours after Jesus was
crucified, so darkness is something God will do in order to give a stern
message to the world.
Please note that I
have underlined the word “ask”. People
have been led to believe that they have received the Holy Spirit automatically
by publicly walking down an isle indicating that they will believe in Jesus or
that by studying everything they can get their hands on, but Salvation is a
free gift from God and it must be asked for because it is the Holy Spirit that
enables us to believe the Truth, Jesus. The
Holy Spirit leads us to the Truth; we cannot get there by our own knowledge or
efforts.
